Dana & Matt and Family

Dana a formal employee at Powerstation, but a forever friend of mine took some cute photos at Gouveia Vineyards.  It was cold outside but we managed to suck it up, and bite the bullet and have some fun.  However Matt when I told you to whisper something in Dana's ear I just want to let you know I heard what you said.. :-)
Thank you both for a break in my everyday routine and I hope you enjoy all the photos.

Thank-you Jon for introducing me to your handsome nephew.  What a great gift for his sister whose wedding I did in '08.  Not only did they make a beautiful bride and groom, but apparently a beautiful child as well!!

Also thanks Jon for the yummy breakfast, it was worth the drive.. You may just get me there every year with a breakfast like that...

Congratulations  Rachel & Tom  on having such a wonderful day and a beautiful daughter, and, yes when I say a beautiful day I do not mean the weather.  Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate at all with us.  Not only did it rained but it POURED...  However I was lucky enough to see so much love with you and your family...  I mean really,  how do you not fall in love with this little girl.. and do you see thee look on Tom's face between his mother and daughter.  All I have to say is that little girl BETTER meet Mr. Perfect or he is gonna get a run for his money.  This dad is going to be "your circle of trust"...

Cutie Pie

Something so special and adorable about this flower girl (Caitlin's daughter) that was sooo sweet. However the reason she is laughing is she just saw her brother (the ringbearer) fall down and laughed!

Baptism

Beautiful Liliana celebrated the sacrament of Baptism on May 16th.  Liliana is the daughter of an old time friend of mine since grade school.  However Denise probably knows exact dates and particular details.  She has always been one to know specifics. Denise and I used to be neighbors for years, from carpooling to playing "little people". 


 It is so nice to be able, not only to photograph these events, but to also be a part of all these wonderful times in my friends lives.  Denise and Dan make beautiful parents, and as you can see beautiful babies as well!  I wish you both many years of happiness with both Liliana and Cameron...


You don't choose your family.  They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.

May 19th

Today I spent my morning as I always like to do, with a cup of coffee, watching my favorite channel "Lifetime", I know YUCK! and tuning into all the websites I look at daily. I go to facebook, yahoo, and fellow photographers websites and/or blogs and it hit me that my last blog was longer then I care remember so I thought to myself, why am I not posting?? I have the answers, just like all the other excuses, not enough time, it's all about work and not enough about me personally, I could go on & on, but today I am making a promise to myself that I will be posting more frequently.

Unfortunately unlike Facebook, It was not as much back and forth chatter so I took a break from posting. Also I have never been good at what to say or how to say it.. So I guess I will start again and hope I surprise myself at how much I have to say.

Tonight for the first time in months I will be going to our Pug Meeting, curling season is over so I have my first Wednesday off since October. Should be a great time, I will let you know:-)

Just to not post anything, I am attaching a slideshow of my cousins wedding that I do in Maryland last month. It was a nice time and I also made a small vacation of it, spending time with close friends. Much needed time before wedding season has hit!

Becky and Frank's Wedding Day

What a beautiful day we had. Becky and Frank had their ceremony at Glastonbury Country Club and the reception immediately following. However we made it on the golf course to get some photos afterward, Becky and Frank didn't want to miss too much of their wedding. So we were "fast" and "furious".

After finishing the edit, looking at the flowers it just made me feel like FALL was coming. I am posting just a few of my favorites!

Photographers always hear a photo request from a "future" bride that hopes we get their fiances' expression while coming down the "aisle". Just wanted to say "kudos' Frank you did a great job! What every bride wants to see. Tears of joy and happiness!

Very Interesting? NOT REALLY

I always like to read the knot and see what brides are chatting about (hopefully all good, right? ) However, today I see that this particular bride had a question, I would have thought this should have been a question directed at her professional vendor however she is going to this "forum" and asking her "friends" these questions.
This was her question..
I'm trying to work out a contract with a photographer and one of the items in her packages is double lighting. Is this something we really need. Is it something we could remove to make the price cheaper etc?? Anyone have advice/thoughts?

These are the responses she got back:
FIRST ONE:
My FFIL is a wedding photographer and just from being around him for 8.5 years I think what that means is probably that she has a regular flash on her camera and then something that is called "fill flash" which is like when you used to get school pictures done and the big white screen thing would flash too. It's for formal pictures only normally since it is ugly and obtrusive (it's not in the picture just in the scene in general). It's so there aren't weird shadows and everyone is the same amount of "lit" even if the sun is on them differently. I would say, if this is what it actually is, do not get rid of it. Actually, she might not get rid of it because it would make her photos look bad and if she did it probably would not save you any money. You will be happier with it... if I am right about the phrase that is! :)

SECOND ONE:
NOOOO!! Do not take it out! IMO it is what separates the "Men from the Boy's" as far as wedding photographers go. But do ask if they use a separate light person. If she does then request that they only use it for formals like the poster said. I going to guess this photographers work stood out from the rest of the "pack" though and that is the "magic" in a lot of cases, so do not ask to take it out. It is the difference between the 1000-2000 photographer and the 4k ones in most cases. BTW I do know of a few photographers that do this technique very well with out an obstusive second light person so ask that first before you have them use for just the formals. The many that will argue that it is obtrusive either are too lazy to do it or don't know how and that is their "Out". It was a must for me when I was hiring a photographer for an event years ago in a hall with darker lighting.

THIRD ONE:
fascinating. i am so curious if my photog does this b/c he is one of the 4k ones lol. our contract doesnt mention it...but it's a very bare bones contract. guess i have a phone call to make ;)


This answers so many of my questions on why I get asked the questions I do :-) Is it just me or what??
I don't know how to build a deck, or a house, or hell not to much of anything but you bet your bippy I wouldn't ask a mechanic how to build a deck.. THOUGHTS??

Erin & Matthew

This beautiful couple lives in Medford, MA so unfortunately I didn't get an opportunity to spend to much time with them before the wedding day, however their families & friends were so much fun to be around, I felt like part of the family by the end of the day. I knew when I "parked my car" (that is with the Boston accent') in the driveway and dad moved my car and I screamed to him, "do you even know how to drive standard" I was in!
I started with Erin at her parents house in Madison CT and we had the chance to spend some time outside before we beat the rain. Then headed over to St. Margaret's Church in Madison, and the reception to follow at Woodwinds in Branford.
Erin & Matt rented a party bus with karaoke, let me tell you watching a groom serenade is wife was pretty cute..
